In applying complex networks to real-life applications, there are often discrepancies and inconsistencies in the results obtained as compared to observations made in the actual systems. In this talk we will identify two crucial considerations which are often disregarded in analytical formulations of practical problems using complex networks. Upon incorporating these considerations, analysis can be performed to yield realistic results and consistent conclusions. Research students are encouraged to re-examine their problems in view of these omissions, or conversely reinstating these important analytical considerations.
